Statement: What is SCMxx


This is my first project written in C. Its purpose was to handle all input and output of my Siemens S35i but it now supports some other mobile phones, too. See the "Phones"-Section for details.
The program derived from a program by Johannes Moeckel called ln-s25. I was not satisfied by its features, though. File transfer did also not function with my S35i. Some code was just copied from there in the first verstions and he pointed me to the documentation.
The features include:
  • detect which phone is present and handle it properly
  • send, get, and remove logos (bitmap files)
  • send, get, and remove ring tones (midi files)
  • send, get, and remove vCalendars (only some phones)
  • send, get, and remove vCards (only some phones)
  • send and get phonebook entries (with Unicode if supported by the phone)
  • send and receive SMS through phone (optionally with Unicode and multipart support)
  • store and get received SMS
Additional tools are included in the SCMxx package:
  • adr2vcf: convert binary address book files from the flexmem to vCard format (*45/*55)
  • apoconv: convert binary address book and organizer data to vCard and vCalender (*65)
  • smi: convert binary short message files (*.smi, *.smo, SMS.dat) to text or CSV
These require an OBEX transfer utility to get the files (except SL45 whre you can also use a MMC card reader).
 
The features are all available now but need more bug tracking and some tuning. It should be flawless with version 1.0 but I'm not there, yet. Almost all features, I could use on my own are implemented. So: anyone can request features, I'll try to fix all bugs and release 1.0 will come up someday. Be aware that not all features are available on all phones. See the "Phones"-Section for details.

You can download the program as is. There is no warranty that it fits any purpose and you may loose data using it. It may even break your hardware setup in a way that it renders it useless to you! USE THE SOFTWARE ON YOUR OWN RISK!
This software is in beta state. It was tested by me a bit. That should catch the worst cases but there is no warranty on that.
The program is licensed under the GPL version 2 as published by the FSF.
 

Rights of other parties


All rights on the name "Siemens" and the product names of the phones made by Siemens belong to the Siemens AG and is licensed by BenQ Corp. This program was developed using the publically available documentation from Siemens and some other sources like the specs from ETSI.
